Effective date: 29 September 2026
This agreement is between you and the developer of Dirently, based in Western Australia, Australia ("we", "us"; contact support [at] dirently.com). It covers the Dirently apps you download from this repository and the Dirently coordination service they use. By installing or using Dirently, you agree to it. If you don't agree, don't install or use Dirently.
We grant you a free, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the Dirently beta on devices you own or are authorised to use, for personal use or for use within your own team or organisation.
The software is licensed, not sold. We keep all rights we don't expressly grant.
You must not:
- access or control any device without the permission of its owner or authorised user;
- use Dirently for fraud, including posing as support staff, a bank or the police to get someone to install it, join a group or turn on sharing;
- use Dirently for anything unlawful;
- attack, overload or interfere with the Dirently coordination service, or impersonate another device;
- reverse engineer, decompile, modify or crack Dirently, or get around any of its limits, except where the law expressly allows it despite this agreement, or as the licences of third-party components allow (see section 9);
- use the Dirently apps with any coordination service other than the one we provide;
- copy, redistribute, sell, rent or sublicense Dirently, or offer it to others as a service. Share the link to this repository instead.
We run the service that helps your devices find each other and connect. Once connected, your screen, sound, input, clipboard and files travel directly between your devices, not through our service. We may change, suspend or stop the service at any time.
This is a beta. It may contain bugs, change often, or lose features. We may end the beta or change these terms at any time. Future versions may come with different terms. If they do, we will tell you before they apply to you.
Dirently is beta software and you use it at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by law, it is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We don't promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure against every threat, or able to connect on every network.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage of any kind arising from your use of, or inability to use, Dirently. This includes lost data, lost profits, business interruption, and indirect or consequential loss.
Nothing in this agreement excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law, or any other law, that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified.
You can stop at any time by uninstalling Dirently. If you break this agreement, we may end your licence and block your devices from the coordination service. Sections 5 to 7 and 10 continue to apply after the licence ends.
- Privacy: we handle your information as described in our Privacy Policy.
- Third-party software: Dirently includes third-party components under their own licences. See THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES. Nothing in this agreement limits your rights under those licences. For example, the LGPL lets you replace the FFmpeg libraries that come with the Windows app with your own build, and reverse engineer as needed to debug such a replacement.
- VB-CABLE: virtual audio drivers such as VB-CABLE are separate products. If you install one, you accept its own terms.
This agreement is governed by the laws of Western Australia, and the courts of Western Australia have jurisdiction. If this English version and the Chinese translation differ, the English version prevails.
